Jessica Monroe Fine Art

Our first collaboration and the soul from which the project emerged, which continued to grow and transform.

The project began during an art residency in Texas with painter Jessica Monroe, who was working on a commission that was to be her largest piece to date.

She was interested in conveying the interplay between black and white lines, which she incorporated into one of her familiar natural themes: cacti, a common feature in her surroundings.

Several experiments were conducted, ultimately leading to what we would call «waves,» which conveys the idea of a fluctuation of opposing energies in nature and humanity.

In this phase of the collaboration, the idea arose to create an app with more artworks, and the next one selected was the painting of the grey heron. We wanted to play with the idea of animating it as if the painting were experiencing interference from another plane, which would bring it to life. Therefore, we created a montage with sound to convey the idea of a shift in universe where the painting comes alive.

As a third element, we wanted to go further and use the painting of the nest, where Jessica is most interested in its structure. The idea was for viewers to appreciate this structure, and the best way to do that was to create a 3D element. But I also wanted to give them the freedom to observe and study it, so we added interactivity, allowing it to be rotated and turned freely so they can appreciate all the elements that compose it. Don’t worry, no eggs fall out when you turn it upside down 😀
